Industrial edge

This house has such a great mix of farmhouse cosiness and industrial detailing. I love the different metal lamps and pendants dotted around, especially the one over the coffee tables. It used to be a warming lamp for chicks, how fun is that?

Oiltank cabin

After a blog break, made longer than I wanted by a faulty computer, I am finally back, and excited to start the new blog year 2011! What better way to start than by blogging about something unique and innovative? This unusual cabin on the little island Skrova, way up in northern Norway, made me stop in my tracks. How cool is this? Utilising an old storage tank for oil, the owner of this cabin built a three-storied holiday home for his family. All the internal fittings are custom made and fitted by the owner as well. Such an amazing way of creating a comfortable home out of a derelict space.

Beautiful greys

I found this lovely apartment on Swedish real-estate agent Stadshem`s pages. I love the original features in this flat, the beautiful ovens, the detailed cornicing and the high ceilings. The steely grey walls enhance the period details and make this flat such a successful combination of old and new.

Decorating with Christmas greens

Nothing spreads the Christmas cheer like decorating with greenery. In my house Hyacinths and Amaryllis where Christmas staples, and the smell of a real tree can't be beaten. Here are some lovely ways to use natural materials in your Christmas decorations. I love this star wreath, and the ice lanterns are just magical.

Christmas reds

This year has seen a lot of white and blue decorations, but to me nothing says Christmas like traditional Scandinavian reds. A little goes a long way towards creating that festive feel.

It's beginning to look a lot like.....

I promised myself I would not do any Christmas post until December, or at least until first sunday of advent on the 28th of November. Hard not to get swept away though as so many stunning blog posts are popping everywhere. So here is an almost there, but not yet post, with cosy warm interiors by the talented Swedish photographer Anna Kern.

Wishlist: Owl cushion

I fell in love with this cushion the first time I saw it. Beautiful. Designed by Danish 'By Nord', and available from Hviit it is now top of my Christmas wishlist.

(My husbands has a bit of a thing for Owls, and I always give him birthday cards with owls on.)

Cabin fever

Maybe it is because winter is drawing in, or the fact that I am currently in Norway in the middle of the forest and valleys, but I have recently had a real 'thing' for antlers, animal skins and raw wood. This cabin in the Norwegian mountains tick all the boxes. I can just imagine myself after a long day skiing, curled up on those skins in front of the fire, with a good book and a hot mug of tea. Heaven!
