Beautiful shelving systems from Swedish String. Designed in 1949 by Nils Strinning, they have a timeless design. I love how light and almost weightless they look.

Wishbone chairs

British made: Another Country

These lovely oak pieces are hand made by Another Country, a small Dorset based furniture company. This is their first collection, drawing inspiration from a mix of British Country, Shaker, Scandinavian and Japanese woodwork. They also work to strict environmentally friendly principles, using FSC certified wood, natural latex mattresses and organic lambswool from farms in Devon and Dorset. I like companies who care about green matters. My personal favorite is the daybed in the image above. So simple, so pretty.

British made: Dare Studio

These lovely pieces are made by award winning British furniture makers, Dare Studio. I love the dark woods and the simple shapes. The attention to detail is amazing, pure craftsmanship.

The guys at Yorkshire based naughtone have long been favorites of mine. They produce beautiful pieces of furniture, with excellent eco credentials, using local and natural materials wherever possible. Their new catalogue is currently out. 

I've got a bit of a thing for chairs

When I think of my favorite pieces by a designer they are almost always chairs. Which is probably why one of my favorite designers of all time is the Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen. That man knew how to make a beautiful chair. You have probably all seen The Seven and The Ant which are among the most selling, and most copied, chairs of all time. Many of Jacobsens designs are still in production by Fritz Hansen, and they recently started making my favorite again, the 1955 Grand Prix. I do prefer it in its original version though, in a teak finish with wooden legs. One day...
